Gray Soapstone
Gray soapstone is a metamorphic rock primarily composed of talc (80-95%), formed through hydrothermal alteration of ultramafic rocks at convergent plate boundaries. Its color ranges from light gray to charcoal and deep black, often with subtle hints of green or blue, and it darkens significantly when oiled or waxed. It is characterized by its smooth, soapy feel, dense and non-porous nature, and resistance to acids, chemicals, and heat.
