Arizona Red Rock Sandstone

Arizona Red Rock Sandstone is a sedimentary rock primarily composed of cemented sand-sized grains. Its distinctive red coloration stems from iron minerals, predominantly hematite, trapped in ancient seawater that oxidized over time. Notable formations include the Schnebly Hill Sandstone, which is mostly red, and the Coconino Sandstone, which appears more yellow at higher elevations.
